Tea Taste

A catalog displaying arts associated with the culture of a tea setting. The objects selected are for contemplation rather than for rarity or value ... in keeping with the ambiance of a tea setting as set out by the classic four words of the spirit of the occasion adopted by the tea master Sen-no-Rikyu (1520-1591) and is the standard used today as seen in the scroll by the Zen priest Yamada Mumon (1900-1988) the four charaers read :

Wa -‍  ‍harmony with others

Kei -reverential sincerity

Sei -  purity of the heart

Whereas the catalog is based on the the tea arts of the Momoyama - early Edo period we have added later Japanese arts and selected pieces from China and South East Asia in keeping with a tea setting.
