early Edo Shino vase

a thick white porous glaze covers this vase with an indented body and tubular handles. Decorated to one side with a reed pattern in underglaze iron and the other side with a pattern of cross lines.

the tomobako lid is signed with a seal by the potter Hayashi Kagemasa (1891-1988) certifying the vase is from the early Edo period. Hayashi Kagemasa was engaged in researching early Mino ceramics.
