Amida Nyorai is one of the central Buddhist figures of Japan representing the Western Paradise (Pure Land ) teachings known for his compassion and promise of salvation. Commonly depicted seated in meditation with the welcoming hand mudra of the thumb and middle finger touching.
This figure displays a peaceful meditative demeanor with flowing robes seated on a lotus base following on from the earlier Kamakura style as seen from the famous massive bronze at Kamakura.
